About Me

Education

Folkestone Grammar School for Girls
London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London

Training

I trained as a child psychotherapist at the former Institute of Child Psychology, London, one of the three founding institutions of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.

Experience

I worked in the NHS for many years.  As Professional Lead, I headed up a group of 16 child psychotherapists across seven specialist child and adolescent mental health  (CAMHS) multi-disciplinary teams, with an excellent track record for the training of child psychotherapists. I have also had a long association with Coram, the renowned independent adoption agency.

I have been in private practice since 1986, offering consultation, assessment and treatment to children, adolescents and their parents.   Referrals come from a variety of sources, most typically from child and adolescent psychiatrists, paediatricians, GPs, schools and from parents themselves.  I also offer consultation and supervision to professionals working in the field of child and adolescent mental health.

Professional Responsibilities

I have been involved in a wide variety of responsibilities with my professional organisation, the Association of Child Psychotherapists [ACP]. I have been Chair of the ACP [1995-1997] and Chair of the ACP Ethics Committee [1998-2001], and I have led accreditation visits to Child Psychotherapy Training Schools on behalf of the ACP Training Council.
