Treatment with
Margaret Hurst
Providing expert professional help to children, young people and their parents facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
Treatment
The aim of psychotherapy is to bring about lasting change, and free-up healthy emotional development. Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to explore complex thoughts and feelings with the therapist who gives very careful attention to the child or young person’s own particular viewpoint. It helps gain understanding and tackle problems by increasing awareness of what is preoccupying and troubling the child or young person. Children usually express themselves through play, drawing and painting, which are eloquent tools for communicating their “inner world” of feelings, experiences and imagination, whilst teenagers generally prefer to talk.
Treatment is tailored to each child and young person and is kept under regular review. Parents are well supported by regular contact in parallel with their child’s or teenager’s individual psychotherapy.
Treatment offered:
- brief individual psychotherapy
- longer term individual psychotherapy
- work with parents
- work with parents and child/young person/family
- parent-infant psychotherapy
Appointment times:
Mondays to Thursdays from 4 p.m.

Please note that I have a comfortable waiting room with the option of silence, books and magazines, wi-fi connection and television, which seems to get particularly heavy use during Wimbledon.
